Scouring and Endless Sea of Fog
by Thomas Couvillion
inspired by Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog (1818) by Caspar David Friedrich
The sea of fog is as endless and vast as the sky
the mountains will forever be the same
I no longer ponder where I have been
I know little of where I will go, my mind is at ease
descending into the churning thick limitless sea
My boots stab deep into the impregnable stone
rigid as the man who wears them
Perhaps it is the beast's belly we enter
The salty mist coats my face and jacket
The journey has started, it is too late
Beneath the sea of fog, many stories remain untold
Yet the wanderer cannot be lost
Scouring in the endless sea of fog
